Family support services

CRISIS FAMILY SUPPORT

Through active recruitment of bilingual and bicultural staff, inTouch is able to offer services to clients in the following languages:

Arabic, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Cantonese, Croatian, Dari, Dinka, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Macedonian, Mandarin, Marathi, Nepali, Nuer, Pashtu, Punjabi, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Sudanese Arabic, Tamil, Thai, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukranian, Urdu, Vietnamese.

For all other languages, we engage with appropriate translating and interpreting services.

inTouch Legal Centre

LEGAL CENTRE

Our inTouch Legal Centre (iTLC) is the first multicultural women’s legal service in Australia specialising in family violence. iTLC provides legal support along with culturally appropriate family violence and immigration support to women from migrant and refugee backgrounds who have experienced family violence.

Our unique model of therapeutic lawyering delivers a seamless, holistic, multidisciplinary and culturally appropriate service that provides considerable benefits in meeting clients’ needs and contributes to improving cross-professional collaboration and understanding.

Immigration support inTouch

IMMIGRATION SUPPORT

Immigration support is provided free by an in-house registered migration agent within the Direct Service Team to assist women who apply for permanent residency under the Family Violence Provision of the Migration Act.

Complex case support program inTouch

COMPLEX CASE SUPPORT (CCS) PROGRAM

Through CCS program inTouch delivers specialised and intensive case management services to refugees and Special Humanitarian Program entrants who have been in Australia for less than five years and who need assistance with complex issues such as family violence, mental health (including torture and trauma), physical health, grief, personal or family relationships, children, accommodation, financial or legal issues.

Court Advocacy inTouch

COURT ADVOCACY

Case workers are located one day a week in the Dandenong, Heidelberg and Magistrates Courts. They assist women with:

    • Pre court information and advice
    • Support through the court process
    • Liaising with police prosecutors and lawyers
    • Securing free legal representation
    • Advocating to ensure that family violence intervention orders are tailored to meet their needs
    • Referring them to inTouch Family Violence Support Programs and other relevant services.
